How to Style Black in Summer Pt. 2

I am back with part 2 to provide you with some more insight on how to style black in the summertime. I want to focus on dresses because they are easy to wear during this time of the year and create flow with any look. Plus, who doesn’t love a little black dress moment? They are something that I think we can never have enough of and are staples for any time of the year. All of these dresses are from Walmart and are super affordable and easy to dress up in your own style, so let’s get started.

This Tie Front Midi Dress with Ruched Sleeves is the most comfortable thing I have put on my body. The tie at the waistline of this dress is so flattering without doing too much or cutting into your skin. My favorite part about this dress is the pockets! I am obsessed with pockets on dresses; it automatically makes them 10 times cuter. The little details on this dress make it so much more versatile to wear for different occasions, such as the ruching on the sleeves of this dress. I went for a more dressed-up look for this outfit with my Guiseppe Mules and black YSL clutch.

This second look is this Bow Back Midi Dress with Puff Sleeves and is for a more casual look. You can’t see it in the pictures I have here, but this dress has the cutest bow that ties in the back, complemented with an open back. This dress is a super light fabric that almost fades to sheer at the bottom. Since it’s black, the dress is not see-through and appropriate for running around town or catching a quick lunch with friends. When I styled this piece, I decided to break up the blacks with some beige Chanel Espadrille shoes and this Asos straw hat. The black on the shoe ties in the whole look and the different pattern, but the same color on my Brandon Blackwood Wicker Bag matches perfectly. Another super cute bag option is this JW Anderson Crotchet bag that brings a little more color into the whole look.

This last look is probably my favorite; I feel like a belong in the Hamptons when I wear this dress. Featuring not-so Hamptons prices, this dress is the Linen Blend Maxi Dress. I have talked about this before, but linen material is great for summer styling black pieces because they are lightweight and breathable. My favorite part about this dress is the white accents on the hemlines, which makes for a more flattering look and tends to be easier to style. My Hermes Oran Sandals match perfectly with the outlining of this dress. This yellow Masur Gavriel mini tote is a great way to add a pop of color and make the outfit feel more summery. When it is a little too sunny outside, I like to add my Valentino Sunnies to this look to give a more dramatic touch.

It does not have to be pricey when it comes to wearing black in the summer and picking out good pieces. One thing I have learned about styling black is that it is hard to distinguish between cheap and expensive material because of the dark color. You can always do what I do and spice up black outfits with nicer accessories such as a cute pair of shoes and corresponding purse; always feel free to add your own personal touch to every look.
