A Rust & Leopard Winter + A Giveaway

Quickly popping in to share this cozy look with you all. Our winter here in Los Angeles is a bit on a off. I got to wear a coat for a week an that was about it. Sometimes it's a little bitter sweet because I don't get to wear much winter-y stuff. Three Looks, Three Mattemoiselle Lipstick Shades

I’m so excited about this post and to share with you all about my experience at Sephora Inside JCPenney trying out and falling in love with #fentybeauty Mattemoiselle lip collection. 

The new exclusive Mattemoiselle collection is #FentyBeauty by Rihanna's newest launch and it is amazing. It has a weightless matte finish, high-octane pigment, all day color intensity, and the packaging is a chic slim design. I really could go on and on. These shades work well with any woman and this is the most profound thing to me. Seriously, how could Rihanna get it this right?! I don’t know but I am loving it and I am obsessed. 

The new Mattemoiselle can be found at Sephora inside @JCPenney. If you follow me on Instagram then you likely saw my insta stories while I was getting my Fenty Face done by a Sephora inside @JCPenney professional. I learned so much about the entire Fenty brand and products. I also learned a lot about how to apply my make-up and insider tips and tricks. Rihanna really wanted to create a line that suits all women and I strongly feel she accomplished that. When the Pro Filt’r foundation was applied to my face I instantly knew, 'I am changing foundation today'. For the longest time I have worn a foundation that was somewhat my shade. It was the best I could do then. I finally found my perfect shade and when I say PERFECT, I mean it matches my skin tone perfectly. I also tried the Killawhat Freestyle highlighter Duo in Girl Next Door and the Match Stix in Rum. I loved the flawless, glam and fabulous finished all the products gave my make-up look. 

 While I was in the store, to finish off my Fenty Face, I convinced myself to try the bright pink Candy Venom from the Mattemoiselle collection and loved it. It’s a shade I would normally stay away from because it seemed so bright but I felt so confident with my Fenty base face, I wanted to go all the way. I’m usually stick to super subtle, nude colors or simply a red. I’ve now worn Candy Venom 4 times since then. I’m literally on a roll. 

 I was so inspired that I created two other looks to show you how I style and match my Mattemoiselle lipstick with my outfit. 

For this look, I wanted my lips to be a bold contrast to this very feminine look. I’m wearing the PMS shade and the plum under tone added the perfect touch of glam to my look. My dress and vest are from JCPenney. 

 For this look, I was more inspired by the lipstick itself as opposed to my outfit inspiring my lipstick. When I chose this color, Ma Damn, I knew I wanted to make a statement so I went for this graphic tee and leather skirt (both from JCPenney) to make this rad, strong fashion statement.

I guess you can tell how much time I spent in JCPenney huh? That’s the beauty of this store, it’s a one-stop-shop for all things fashion and beauty. It’s such a beautiful partnership and kudos to JCPenney for opening Sephora inside their stores since 2006. The fashionsita and beauty lover in me is always so excited about going there. Let me not forget to tell you they have the cutest Snapchat filter in the stores for the month of January. You have to try it out on you next stop at Sephora inside JCPenney.

How To Host a Chic NFL Homegate In Your Home

Today's post is such a fun one and I'm excited to get you all into the football spirit and, if you already are, I'm still hoping to help you add a touch of chic to how you enjoy football. 

Last week I decided to host a Homegate in my home for a few friends. I hadn't seen them over the holidays because we all traveled and this was the perfect way to get us all together. Homegating for me is a way to bring the energy of football to the comfort of my own home. It's inevitable that food and football go hand in hand. It really doesn't matter whether you are in the tailgating lots, in the stadium or or like I did last week, a Homegate in my living room. 

Whenever I host friends, I always think of a theme and most times I set out to shop cute items that will bring that theme to life. I wanted to enhance the spirit of our team and I knew the one place I could find chic items to entertain would be NFLShop.com/Homegating. I found everything I needed from them to host my Homegate and execute the chic style I wanted. 

I set up the drinks area so that as soon as my friends entered they could go straight ahead and get a drink. Here are three tips to setting up drink section:

1. Lay out glassware so guest can easily help themselves

2. Add quick bites such as vegetable dip or chips & dip. Many times guests are wanting a bite before they drink or while they drink

3. Decorate your drink area easily by adding a garland or placing cute empty containers off to the side.

I loved greeting my friends as they entered. Believe me, the effort you put into hosting your friends will be rewarded with smiles and hugs. The excitement on their faces when they saw that I put in this much effort just to watch our New Orleans Saints play in my home, was gratifying. Before the game started we chatted over drinks and bites.

I always ensure I make at least one special drinks for my guest whenever I do any hosting. For this Homegate I whipped up my special Mango Madness by using Lime-A-Rita's flavor Mang-O-Rita. The recipe is simple (1 serving):

4oz Mang-O-Rita

2oz lime juice

2oz club soda

Garnish with lime wedge and mint leaf.

I prepared this platter and served it on the coffee table because I love giving my guest direct access and comfort. I did not want anyone to have to get up to go get food, that will risk the chance of witnessing a live touchdown.

Here are three tips and ideas on how and what to feed your guests:

1. Make food accessible and easy to serve- I got this pretty team cheese board from NFLShop.com/Homegating 

2. Serve food that blends well with drinks- Cheese and crackers go well with my Lime-A-Rita, Mango Madness

3. Always have TV bites- I poured sour cream popcorn in a clear bowl so that once they were done eating from the cheese board they could enjoy TV bites while the game is playing.

Who Knew? David's Bridal Amazing Bridesmaids Dress Selection

Hope you are are doing well and in great spirits; and if you aren't, let's hope this post will cheer you up. Today's post is all about picking the right bridesmaid dresses for my cousins wedding, coming up in Spring 2018. I spoke about my cousin's engagement on this blog last summer. She really wants all of her bridesmaids to feel comfortable in the dresses we choose. She had one request, long and flowy. 

While looking and asking around where I could shop for bridesmaid dresses, I learned about David's Bridal collection of bridesmaids dresses. I set up an appointment to go in one evening, and man, was I surprised. My appointment was 1.5 hours and I was greeted with excellent customer service. My stylist was warm, friendly, informative, and most importantly patient. She took her time to learn about my cousin, her taste, the feel of her wedding and the type of bridesmaids she had in the bridal party. She explained to me the types and styles of dresses including fabric variations. She discussed color palates with me and wrote down my preferences based on our entire conversation. We then went into selection mode for dresses to try on. We ended up with four dresses to try on. I must admit, it was not easy narrowing it down to four dresses. There were so many beautiful options, but I contained myself. 

 My stylist brought all the dresses to a dressing room, set up especially for me, and I tried each one on.  She explained that I shouldn't pay attention to the color dress, but more on the fit and style. We had already talked about the color/s I would like to wear for the wedding- which was on the blush side. The first dress I tried on was this pretty lace one. What I loved about it was the gorgeous lace details and the fact that I could show off my arms. That was a must in picking my dress and my David's Bridal stylist helped me accomplish that.  

 The second dress I tried on was this elegant and chic drape back, front slit leg dress. I felt like a quintessential black tie beauty in this dress. The split adds a lovely flair of glam to this dress.

The third dress I tried on was this glamorous gown that had me swooning over the fabric, cut and fit. Loved the modest cleavage, sweetheart neckline, and bell bottom. I felt like I was going to a ball, I felt beautiful. 

The third dress I tried on was as this gorgeous ruffle and criss-cross strap dress. I fell madly in love with it. The dress moved smoothly over my body and I felt super comfortable wearing it. 

The fourth and final dress I tried on was this fabulous wrap slit dress with a semi cleavage cut. A cleave cut was on my wish list too. My stylist once again delivered on helping me to choose from the wide selections for dresses that matched my wish-list. Because, really, it is so easy to get carried away with all the options. Ha!

 So, without further ado (drumroll), I went for the ruffle dress with the criss-cross strap details. I instantly knew it was THE ONE. My cousin's wedding will be in the springtime, in a warm location, close to the beach and she wanted us to be fun and chic. This was the dress. I absolutely loved the others but they weren't the right fit for her wedding. 

 The beauty of it all, is that there is a dress for every bridesmaid out there at David's Bridal. The wide selection and amazing options are unbelievable. I felt like I could have stayed all day and tried on dresses. I had no idea they were as impressive in the bridesmaids department as they are in the Bride area. 

 A few other important notes about the service and what David's Bridal has to offer:

1. Vera Wang carries a bridesmaid line (the first dress I tried on was a WHITE by Vera Wang- How cool?).

2. Their dresses can and will be altered to your perfect fit, including adding length to the dress. This is especially amazing for my fellow tall girls. I'm 5'10" and I was informed if I wanted add or take away length that was possible. However, Vera Wang collection does not add length, only take away. 

3. Finding your right size is really done by the stylist's measurement and sizing of you. It's not about your traditional store size. I found that to be wonderful, as we all do not fit a perfectly into any given "size". Our bodies change, and it's refreshing to be measured and fitted and not be limited to generic size options.
